YipDogWhistle · Effective 2026-07-30 (revised 2026-07-30)

Yip collects no data. None. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs that phone home. The app works entirely offline.

What stays on your device

Everything you create in Yip — dog profiles, whistle cues and patterns, frequency presets, training sessions and progress, recorded clicker sounds, and settings — is stored on your device. Yip has no server, no account, and no sync of its own: the app never transmits your data to us or to anyone else.

Your device backups

Like most iOS apps, Yip's data is included when your device backs itself up — iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup, if you use them. Those backups are made by iOS under your Apple account and Apple's terms and encryption; Yip has no access to them and plays no part in making them.

Deleting the app

Deleting the app deletes its data from your device. Copies you made yourself can outlive the app until you delete them too: your device backups, and any dog-profile or clicker files you exported to Files, iCloud Drive, or elsewhere.

Microphone

Yip only uses the microphone when you explicitly start a recording:

Record a whistle (beta): audio is analyzed on-device, in memory, to detect the whistle's pitch and rhythm; the audio itself is not stored and never leaves your device.
Record your clicker (experimental): the two short click sounds you record are stored on your device so the app can play them back. They never leave your device unless you export and share them yourself.

Backups and sharing

Exporting a dog profile or a recorded clicker creates a file that you choose where to save or share (for example via the Files app or AirDrop). That is entirely under your control; Yip has no server and receives nothing.

Apple Watch

If you use the Watch app, your favorite cues sync directly between your own devices using Apple's device-to-device connection. Nothing passes through us.

Yip collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future feature ever changes what data is handled, this policy will be updated first and the change will be stated plainly in the app.
